Moving Good Teachers to Great Practice
The UL Lafayette Picard Center's Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate Program is a certification program through which teachers and professionals can earn their Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate, a professional credential for teachers working in early learning centers. The Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate can be earned by completing our BESE-approved program and submitting a completed application to the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE). Beginning on July 1, 2019, all lead teachers in publicly-funded centers (Type III) will be required to have a current or be earning an Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate as a minimum credential.
The UL Lafayette Picard Center's Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate Program seeks to improves the lives of Louisiana's children and families by preparing teachers to develop and apply high-quality, evidence-based educational practices in their classrooms each day. Our instruction is aligned with the core values of the National Association for the Education and Care of Yong Children (NAEYC) and the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS™) to achieve the goals and objective of our state's leadership agency, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE).

Our flexible, three-course program revolves around four basic goals--assess children's needs, plan effective and fun instructional activities, always teach purposefully, and continuously reflect on your progress. Our program is rooted in a problem-solving approach by which teachers apply new skills and knowledge to the daily events that occur in their classrooms.
