Grounded in attachment theory and incorporating up-to-date research, this six-day program emphasizes the fundamental importance of the parent-infant relationship for early brain development and social-emotional development, the cultural and ethnic contexts of parenting, and the implications for psychopathology, assessment and intervention. The program is video-rich, uses didactic and interactive approaches to highlight concepts, and promotes inter-disciplinary and program/agency collaboration.

Supported by funding from the LA Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health, the program is open to professionals serving infants, young children, and families. It is offered twice/year in different parts of the state. There is no cost, but attendance is limited, and registration is required. Attendance at all six sessions is expected. The fall 2017 program is currently underway at the Picard Center; dates and place for the spring program to be announced. For more information, contact Paula Zeanah, PhD, MSN, RN at paula.zeanah@louisiana.edu.
