Attachment Vitamins

Attachment Vitamins is a parenting education group that provides caregivers with knowledge about early emotional development and the effects of stress so that parents can better understand and respond to their child’s needs and challenging behaviors. Activities highlight experiences that increase parental attachment with the child, and enable parents to consider their own experiences and parenting goals. To promote early language development, attendees receive a book at each session to take home and read with their child.

Foundations of Infant Mental Health

Grounded in attachment theory and incorporating up-to-date research, this six-day program emphasizes the fundamental importance of the parent-infant relationship for early brain development and social-emotional development, the cultural and ethnic contexts of parenting, and the implications for psychopathology, assessment and intervention. The program is video-rich, uses didactic and interactive approaches to highlight concepts, and promotes inter-disciplinary and program/agency collaboration.

Prepare. Train. Launch.

The Picard Center for Child Development and Lifelong Learning held their CLASS-ACT Observer Orientation on September 11-12th for 53 CLASS observers. During this two-day training our team of highly qualified individuals reviewed observation procedures, practiced observation coding, and prepared for observations to start on September 18th, 2017. The Picard Center will conduct an estimated 3,860 early childhood classroom observations in every Louisiana parish during this school year.
